September 23 2004:
It happens once in a while that media will appear that paints ASFR and the freeze fetish in a negative light. If you're into this stuff in a serious way, it won't affect you, but sometimes it can make you realize the horrible nature of what is going on here.
I can't say that I subscribe to the idea of permanently trapping women, or hurting anyone in any way. Some of my fiction had endings like that, but it's not something I agree with, and probably would not write that way again, in the future.
CBS viewers who watched the season premiere of CSI:NY on Wednesday night were faced with such a story. The writers chose words carefully to say that he had a control fetish, and it was sexual.
The story? It was something ripped from our own fiction. A cunning doctor locks women into their own bodies. Paralyzed from the eyes down. It's only discovered later on that she can communicate by blinking. He claims they wanted to be free, and live a peaceful, helpless life, listening to music and being treated like an object.
The lead CSI paints it as a living hell for the 3 victims, 2 of which are deceased before the show starts. I can't disagree with him. I know that in the past we have all countered with the fact that this is just a fantasy, but that doesn't make it any less important. We talk with abandon based on the fact that none of us would ever have the chance to perform what we write about, on another human being. But what if you could..what would you do? Would you turn into this madman, yourself?
There are plenty of people in this community, and in other fetishes who beg for this fate, who believe they want this to happen, and that makes it all the more distressing. It's not something anyone should want. There are medical conditions that put people in these states, that the sufferers of which, and their families, would do anything to get out of.
I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but I hope that people will give this some serious thought. I strongly encourage people to share their beliefs here. It's something that we don't do enough, and we really should.
I started the Living Mannequin Circle to celebrate performers and their difficult job. My other interests include heavily costumed performers, and other identity losing positions. It's out of respect and admiration of these people that I created my roost on the web. I understand that for a lot of the people here, it is a sexual thing, and I don't have too much of a problem with that. I felt bad when that kind of material had to be removed from the main site, but it didn't agree with my own interests and had to go. I still encourage people to post and write about it in a sexual light, because it helps everyone to gain access to media on what we see as our core topic...posing and performing.
I'm sorry if this has become long winded and run on. You should be happy to know that it does not end with anything being shut down, or closed. Things have been going well for the site for a few years, and I don't intend to mess that up. Anyone who has chatted with me (and everyone is welcome to do so, on Yahoo! Messenger) knows that I'm open minded to new games and will roleplay anything and explore new ideas. Please, don't confuse this for acceptance of sexuality being combined with my professional interests.
Thank you for visiting, and a very big thanks to all of the contributors to the LMC. Stay tuned for an additional post when I realize all the things I forgot to mention...and please, everyone, post yourselves! Open up, everyone is listening.
