Yes, it's true! If you haven't heard by now, casting is underway for the remake of house of wax. Hurry up and we'll submit a script before they screw it up!

I have seen both the old black and white version and the Vincent Price version and also look at Waxworkshere is some things they need to have in order to make it a good film:

-probably have a guy who is obsessed with wax figures....a fetish of some sorts...also he might have an old mansion that contains either mannequins or wax figures dressed as either slaves, harems, etc. and have the hero (and/or heroine) go inside and face these figures

- mainly have female victims

-some of the wax figures should be in some of the fictional stories like maybe darker versions of such tales like Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, Red Riding Hood, etc.

-instead of having the victims transform into wax in their death form (e.g. - Waxworks), they transform as part of the exhibit.

I guess that will be it for now...unless I can come up with more ideas

I have a couple more ideas...

- a flashback on the fact that the hero's father and villan were once
archeologists finding an artifact that made life to inanimate objects....the
hero's father wanted to take this artifact to a museum so others can
view it...but the villan wanted other uses for it. He then kills the father
and takes the artifact and flees to where the old mansion is now....he
states he uses different abandoned building to create a museum to catch
victims and create wax figures by use of witchcraft and sorcery

- probably at the end of the film we see that there was one figure not
destroyed and we see the figure comes to life...

There is also a mexican version that blows the other two away. There is a scene where a hot cabaret singer is abducted and taken back to this guys cave. She awakens just as the bad guy is about to pour a vat of wax over her. This scene is so realistic, that it's almost spooky. The stuff they used looks like real boiling wax and for a few moments after she has been coated, steam comes off of her head! Her skin even has a glossy/wax look to it. The language is in spanish though. The scenes where he gives a tour of the statues,( a few close ups of live women) could have been better... I think I got it from something weird video.
